Forgiveness is one of the most powerful teachings in Christianity. Jesus made it clear in Matthew 6:14-15 that if we forgive others, our Heavenly Father will also forgive us. Forgiveness is not just an option, it is a command.
Holding onto anger, bitterness, or resentment can weigh heavily on our hearts. It creates distance between us and God, and it robs us of peace. But when we forgive, we reflect the heart of Christ, who forgave us even when we did not deserve it.
Forgiveness does not mean forgetting the hurt or pretending it never happened. It means releasing the burden and choosing to respond with grace rather than revenge. In doing so, we find healing and freedom.
As believers, we are called to forgive because we have been forgiven. Forgiveness opens the door to reconciliation, restores relationships, and allows the love of Christ to shine through us.
Reflection:
Is there someone in your life you need to forgive? Ask God for the strength to let go and to extend the same mercy that you have received through Christ.
